Hi list,
Is it possible that somebody hacked into csounds.com? Take a look at my screenshot, third link... Alex

Viagra is back!
For awhile the FIRST link had some ads for Csound, disappeared for awhile. I'm not sure who is currently updating the site, but I am sure Richard Boulanger or someone else able to address this will see this at some point to be taken care of.

Alex, Sigi, all, this is the result of SEO poisoning, where and there was some malicious code on the site when I inherited its maintenance. The viagra spam was a result of a little script that injected junk of the sort to Google's spider when it detected that a spider was visiting the site instead of a human guest. this resulted in a large number of pages which had spammy search results, yet pointed to correct pages on Csounds. I am working with Google Webmaster tools to laboriously eradicate the offending results by checking each page and its nodes for malicious shell and php scripts, and then notifying Google to re-index the page's content. This takes a while. The reason it seemed to go away in the search results was because Google began processing my requests, but I may have missed a few out of very very many pages. Alex, thank you very much for posting this, and I will investigate the page/node in question. The breach has been detected and patched, now I am just cleaning up quite a bit of content as we prepare to overhaul and add features to the site. John Clements, volunteer webmaster, Csounds.com

Just re-submitted the page Csounds.com/mikelson to Google, which does not guarantee that they will complete all requests for re-indexing, so we will just hope for the best here. We are doing much better. Viagra used to come up in the third or fourth link when you googled 'csound'... Best, John

Seems the viagra problem is a 'hard one' to get rid of!

Thank you, Dr. B- I am learning as I go, and very glad for the opportunity. I will continue to monitor and re-index pages that are still incorrectly cached by Google. I certainly hope the ugly SEO scripts have not reared up again. I am grateful when members of the Csound community alert us to any issues and share suggestions for improving the site, as it really is quite overdue for implementing some of the changes that were discussed at the Csound Conference. Looking forward, John C On Jan 26, 2012 10:20 AM, "Dr. Richard Boulanger" <[hidden email]> wrote:

Yeah,... I guess whom ever put it there on the site as a malicious hack,
probably uses "jack" in the "off" mode, because that's what they are. (lol) Or as one of my UK friends would say,... "a nancy, and a bloody twitt". -pbs ======================================================= --- [hidden email] wrote: From: Rory Walsh <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Csnd] csounds.com Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2012 11:23:09 +0000 Seems the viagra problem is a 'hard one' to get rid of! Viagra is back? Damn!
Well,... what would you expect from a deprived wanker, creating stuff like that. Yeah,... definitely a deprived wanker. They need to get a life, preferrably their own, and stop bothering our group like this. -pbs ==================================================== --- [hidden email] wrote: From: Sigi Mueller <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Csnd] csounds.com Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2012 01:51:01 -0600 Viagra is back! Hello Csounders-
I am here in Berlin with a group of students from Berklee College of Music, to attend the CTM festival as well as visit some software companies and academic contacts. We are here through the 5th of February, and as many of us are Csound users, we would love to meet up with anyone from the Csound community living in Berlin and have coffee/lunch etc and speak about your experiences with the city and musical endeavors here. It is always a pleasure to meet in person with members of this wonderfully inspiring group. Looking forward to seeing you, John Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email [hidden email] with body "unsubscribe csound" |

Hello John (and Csounders of course)!
Me, Øyvind and Sigurd is also here in Berlin with about 40 of our students from NTNU for basically the same purpose as you. We would of course love to take part in some type of coffee/lunsj/dinner! A couple of the things we already have planned: - concert: supersilent on wednesday - concert: 30 years of touch on sunday - concert: steam machine music tonight - tour: funkhaus (old studiocomplex from before the wall that's turned into a somewhat creative collective) at wednesday 14.00. This is 5 euro per person and I'm sure you're welcome to join us with your students John.
