[Csnd] CsoundQt crash in OSX

Charles Groves
All,

CsoundQt stopped working suddenly on my Macbook a few weeks ago. It fails after showing the CSoundQt logo without any error messages.

Running via the terminal gives results included below.

Re-installing does not help.

Thanks in advance,
Charles

Re: [Csnd] CsoundQt crash in OSX

Tarmo Johannes-3

Hi,

Thanks for the report!

I think I know what the reason is but very curious what caused the change in situation some weeks ago.

I believe you can solve your problem if you install CsoundQt from here:

https://github.com/CsoundQt/CsoundQt/releases/download/0.9.4/CsoundQt-0.9.4.1-cs-6.09-qt-5.9.0.dmg

If you confirm that works, we should replace the one in OSX installer.

BUT BEFORE: please send me the file of preferences so I can make some tests:

The file is in $HOME/Library/Preferences/

and called com.csound.qutecsound.plist

you might need to use terminal to get there, copy the file for example to desktop and then send.

In terminal:

cd $HOME/Library/Preferences/

cp com.csound.qutecsound.plist $HOME/Desktop

Hope it works, please let know!

tarmo

Hey Charles ...

I had this problem a few days back, the updated installer seems to be doing the trick for me

(thanks again tarmo, really appreciate your help & effort ... i feel more confident about the update process in general now that i have learnt more about likely causes ... & what a preference file is ...)

Yes, it launches successfully. Thank you for your help.

Could I have caused the crashing by having too many tabs open in the Editor?

Hi,

No. And good it works -  this problem came up and was solved actually monthes ago -  Qt version 5.8 had some bugs that apparently come up only on certain circumstances (on MacOS). In Qt 5.9 that is fixed and that is the version used to build CsoundQt now. As it came out  - I had packaged mistakenly somehow the old binrary -  my bad. I ask Victor to replace CsoundQt in MacOS installer.
